Going the Extra Mile: Journey to Cao Bang, Vietnam
Nestled in the northeastern region of Vietnam, Cao Bang province is a captivating blend of stunning natural beauty and history. Renowned for its majestic landscapes, including the iconic Ban Gioc Waterfall, Cao Bang boasts lush forests, winding rivers, and rugged limestone peaks that leave visitors in awe of its beauty. The province’s economy is centred on agriculture, forestry, and mining. Cao Bang is relatively poor compared to other Vietnamese provinces, yet steady progress is being made. Schools and hospitals tend to be in poor condition but are gradually improving, partly thanks to the help of initiatives aimed at uplifting the community.
At Asian Tigers, we’re deeply committed to engaging with and supporting the communities where we operate. In Vietnam, this commitment is exemplified by our efforts to support those working to help those in need, such as underprivileged communities in northern Vietnam. In addition to this, we also have a separate longstanding partnership with Blue Dragon Vietnam, a charity organisation dedicated to ending human trafficking. This partnership allows us to extend our reach and impact, ensuring that our contributions make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
At the end of February, our team in Ho Chi Minh City collected donations locally from SkyMavis and American International School Vietnam to deliver to Blue Dragon in Hanoi. Separately Grade 4 students at the European International School in HCMC had been working hard to arrange for the collection of pre-loved stationery and books from the EIS community. Asian Tigers Vietnam collected those donations and is arranging for them to be delivered to the Free Library (Thu Vien Mien Phi) in Cao Bang. This is an initiative where children from local villages have access to books using a mobile library van. It’s great to share the love of reading!
The distance from HCMC to Cao Bang is close to 1200km, or over 1600 km by road. When we say we go the extra mile, we mean it! We believe in not only delivering excellence in our services, but also making a positive impact where it matters most: in the lives of people.
